2008 Chevrolet HHR LS

Posted: Mon. Dec. 16 10:43:37 2019

The HHR is a trendy, retro-cool little buggy from a styling standpoint. Its positive attributes from my experience are as follows:
•Offers lots of storage space especially with rear seats down. I've hauled up to 700 lbs of cargo with no issues.
•The ecotec 2.2 motor offers good power and torque, combined with great fuel economy. I can eek up into the high 40-mpg! range straight cruising on the highway.
•It handles and corners surprisingly well with a tight feel and little body roll.
•The side view mirrors are large and fairly square, affording a good field of view.

However the car also has a few major drawbacks as follows:
•I'm fairly tall at 6'1 and the visibility outside is horrible with a low cut windshield, thick pillars everywhere and small windows.
• There is no dome light up front, the only one is far back in the cargo area. The only lighting up front is the mirror-mounted map lights which are inadequate.
•No keyed entry into tailgate nor into passenger door.
• No locking glovebox or gas door.
• Radio controls and most instrument panel buttons & switches are a haphazard layout.
•The door pockets are a joke, are half-moon shape and hold little.
•There is no center console, meaning very few places to put your junk.
•The engine bay offers poor access to many components due to the 1940s hood and fender styling.
•The interior plastic is dime-store cheap.
